There’s three stages in every offer that you can make money from. Before, during and after your offer. Most people only focus on the “during” part and point an ad to a sales page and hope for the best.
This works, but is risky at best and not really good for your customer or long term success.
Here’s the break down for making more profit while also giving your customer a better experience…
BEFORE THE OFFER
Use retargeting with all of your ads, whether they’re from Facebook, JV partners, affiliates, it doesn’t matter. 99% of the people that first see your ad won’t buy so follow up with them (even when they’re not on your list) with retargeting and watch the sales come in!
*Note: Retargeting is waaaaaay cheaper than normal ads and converts super high. You can even customize your offers to say things like,
“Hey! We noticed you left without your [product name goes here]. Click here to finish your order and we’ll send it right over!”
Or a week after they visited your site…
“We’re running a sale on [product name goes here]! Click here to save 20% and we’ll send it right out to you!”
And if you want to get even more sales, run another ad after a few weeks with a 1/2 OFF sale. (Remember, some money is better than no money, right?)
All that happens BEFORE the offer and is completely ignored by 99% of marketers online!
DURING THE OFFER
First, provide value in your offer. Just like I’m doing here, now. Educate them on the problem that they may not even be aware of that your product solves. Then let them know how it impacts them to not deal with it.
Then tell them the solution. Help em out, even if they don’t buy from you.
Next show them your offer and explain the benefits of having you help them vs doing it without you. (If you have painful examples from your own experience or customer’s experience, it’s super helpful and puts them in the frame of mind to want your solution.)
Now they’re buying from you and you’re ready to customize their offer.
Whether it’s a checkout bump on the checkout page, like “Join our membership for only X per month (usually Y) by checking this box and we’ll include it in your order.” or having 1-click upsells after they purchase like, “Now that you have the tools, grab our training for a discount of X by clicking this button!”
For this to work well, you need to have a related offer that compliments their purchase. If they don’t buy, it shouldn’t make them feel bad about what they just bought, but if they DO want your upsell, it should be painful to say no to it.

AFTER THE SALE
Once you have a customer, it’s critical to keep your promise with a great product or service AND great support. If you do that, then you’re lined up for future sales for life.
To sell after the sales effectively, you’ll need to set up an autoresponder with behavioral dynamics that will present new solutions that will help your customers, but will stop automatically once they buy.
And them move on to the next offer of course. 🙂
